JACK R. COTTRELL,
JR.
is a licensed Florida attorney
and has argued complex commercial
litigation cases in circuit
courts throughout the state
of Florida for some of the
largest corporations in the
world. He has successfully
argued, litigated, arbitrated,
and mediated cases in various
state and federal courts throughout
Florida. Further, Mr. Cottrell
has argued cases as the attorney
of record in Florida’s appellate
courts. Mr. Cottrell has extensive experience
in litigation and legal transactions.
Prior to practicing law, Mr.
Cottrell earned his Bachelor
of Arts in Education from
the University of Akron in
1983 while working full time.
Immediately after graduation
he relocated to Florida where
he began teaching high school
social studies where he was
honored with multiple awards
including the Florida Golden
Apple Teacher Award; County
Teacher of the Year-Runner-up;
High School Teacher of the
Year; National Council on
Economic Education Certificate
of Merit; Florida Council
on Economic Education Certificate
of Merit for the Governor's
Award for Excellence in Teaching
and; Florida Council For The
Social Studies Teacher of
the Year. He also coached
varsity high school basketball
and his team was ranked as
high as ninth in the state.
In 1996, Mr. Cottrell graduated
from the University of West
Georgia where he received
his Masters of Education in
Guidance and Counseling and
was inducted into Phi Delta
Kappa. In 1996 he returned
to Florida and became a high
school guidance counselor
and was honor by being named
a National Youth Leadership
Forum Outstanding Youth Mentor.
Mr. Cottrell is involved in
community youth sports programs
and has sat on the board of
directors of a local church.
